The monks then – as is clear from monastic tradition and ecclesiastical ordering – are called in a very special way to continue Christ's prayer in the Church, both in the celebration of the Mass and the Divine Office, which must have primacy in their lives, and in the other forms of prayer which must permeate the whole of life in its own way.
